Our Pastor

Rev. Dr. James Anthony Josey
Rev Dr. James Anthony Josey is the Pastor of Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal Church in Cumberland, Maryland. He is married to Shenita Josey, and is the father of James Antuane and Patrick Duane'.

A product of Wilmington, North Carolina, Dr. Josey holds a Bachelor's degree from Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina. After competing and winning first place honors at the National Black Graduate Student Conference in March 2000, he accepted a fully funded Fellowship from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development at Minnesota State University, in Mankato, Minnesota.

Dr. Josey graduated at the top of his class with a Master of Arts in Public Administration and Urban Management, specializing in affordable housing. In October of 2011, Rev. Josey then completed his doctoral studies at United Theological Seminary and at the December Commencement was hooded a Doctor of the Church. He enjoys a professional career in government, having served with the Social Security Administration, Transportation Security Administration, the City of Columbus, Ohio, the Defense Logistics Agency in Columbus, Ohio, Army Corps of Engineers in Charleston, South Carolina, the US Department of Health and Human Services in Rockville, Maryland, as a Senior Procurement Analyst with the US Department of State, as a Small Business Specialist.
